The Hmong American Farmers Association (HAFA) advances the economic, social and cultural prosperity of Hmong-American farmers through advocacy, economic development, capacity building and research. More specifically, HAFA uses a community organizing approach to work with its members and other farmers in the Hmong community to improve their farming operations, and thereby, lift their families out of poverty and contribute to the economic growth of the broader community. As a member-based organization, HAFA was started by and is led by Hmong-American farmers. The organization was intentionally founded as a members-driven organization because systems change does not occur by helping one or two individuals, but rather, by developing a cohort of people aligned in values and acting in solidarity.
