As Director of the Shared Ownership Center at Nexus, I help develop and implement strategies of community wealth building. Taking an ecosystem-wide approach, I work with an array of partner organizations to create a more inclusive and sustainable economy. I specialize in providing technical assistance to real estate investment cooperatives, nonprofits and worker co-ops. Our goal is to create democratically governed enterprises that are vehicles for community self-determination and shared economic benefits.

About Benjamin

I have over 20 years of experience in the cooperative and nonprofit sectors, working to build a more collaborative and sustainable society. I got my start helping to co-found The Hub Bike Co-op in 2002 and served as CEO and Development Coordinator. After playing multiple leadership roles that facilitated 15 years of growth, I left the Hub and began consulting for a variety of Minnesota businesses, co-ops and nonprofits. I joined Nexus in 2019 to provide services to businesses transitioning into worker cooperatives. Since then, I have helped expand the program to include startups and organizational models that support community ownership of real estate.
